Known for his visionary leadership, social commitment, and infrastructure reforms, he has worked across law enforcement, public policy, and development for over 34 years.

Early Life & Family

Krishna Prasad Tenneti was born in Hyderabad, and his parents are from East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh to a family of educators. The values of discipline and community service were instilled in him from an early age.

He completed his:

  • Schooling at St. Ann's and Little Flower institutions in Hyderabad
  • B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Warangal
  • MBA from the prestigious IIM Ahmedabad
  • LLB from Osmania University, Hyderabad

Entry into Civil Services

A Distinguished IPS Career (1986–2020)

In 1986, Krishna Prasad Tenneti cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in his first attempt and joined the Indian Police Service (IPS). Over the next three decades, he held key positions across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, displaying immense courage, innovation, and compassion in every assignment.

Surrender Specialist

Through the Three Tent Program in Vizag and the Sanjeevani Program across four North Telangana districts, Krishna Prasad Tenneti pioneered a humane approach to counter-insurgency, combining medical outreach, rehabilitation, and livelihood opportunities to encourage militant surrenders. His efforts led to the surrender of nearly 400 militants in Vizag and 300 in Telangana, driving Naxalites out of the region by 2004.

Critical Investigator

As CID Chief, Krishna Prasad Tenneti led high-impact investigations into cybercrime networks, NREGA fund misuse, and the AP PG Medical Exam scam, ensuring swift justice through meticulous evidence gathering and filing charge sheets in record time. His leadership set new benchmarks for transparency, accountability, and speed in law enforcement.

As IG of Computer Services, Krishna Prasad Tenneti spearheaded the digitisation of all 1,865 police stations in united Andhra Pradesh one of India’s earliest and most comprehensive technology integrations in policing streamlining operations and enhancing transparency across the force.

In 1999, Shri Krishna Prasad Tenneti, an Engineer and an MBA from IIMA, was specially selected by the then Chief Minister Shri Nara Chandra Babu Naidu to build infrastructure and also bring FDI into the State, as well. He was posted as ED Infrastructure Projects in APIIC.

Founded by Krishna Prasad Tenneti, the KP Foundation is dedicated to creating equitable opportunities for underserved communities across India. Transition to Politics

In 2024, driven by a deeper commitment to serve the nation, Krishna Prasad Tenneti entered public life. He was elected as Member of Parliament from Bapatla constituency, bringing his values of integrity, inclusion, and innovation to national policymaking.

  • Contesting for the first time Krishna Prasad Tenneti won the Bapatla (SC) Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 elections with a total of 2,08,031 votes.
