This major rail section is a critical North–South corridor, but existing triple lines were saturated due to heavy passenger and goods movement, causing frequent delays.

With intervention from MP Tenneti Krishna Prasad, and support from Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Railways granted in-principle approval for a fourth track to ease congestion.
