Four-Lane Expansion of NH216
NH216, an essential coastal highway, connects ports, industrial hubs, tourist destinations, and agricultural markets across Andhra Pradesh’s coast. The problem was that large stretches of this highway remained narrow, two-lane roads — prone to congestion, accident-prone, and inadequate for heavy freight. Transport of time-sensitive goods like seafood and farm produce was slowed, causing supply chain inefficiencies and financial losses.
MP Tenneti Krishna Prasad took strategic steps to address these challenges by working closely with the Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and securing the support of Nitin Gadkari Ji. In principle, approval was granted to widen NH216 to a four-lane National Highway. The DPR is now under preparation, and the ambitious upgrade will see heavily trafficked two-lane bottlenecks expanded into a modern, safer road system capable of accommodating heavy commercial vehicles and increasing tourist inflow.
